Unlock PDF

When you have a PDF you own but can't open or edit because the password has been lost or forgotten, PDFStream's unlock tool removes the restrictions — entirely in your browser, with no file upload required. The tool removes both user passwords (which prevent opening) and owner passwords (which restrict printing, copying, or editing). It works on PDFs where you have the right to access the content — for example, a password-protected backup of your own documents or a file protected with a weak or default password. Common scenarios: recovering access to an old PDF you password-protected years ago, removing print restrictions from a document you legally own, or unlocking a PDF form so you can fill it in a viewer that doesn't support restricted forms. Note: this tool cannot break strong encryption on documents you don't own. It is designed for lawful use — recovering your own files, removing self-imposed restrictions, or processing documents you have the right to access.
